SELEUKID KINGS. Demetrios I Soter, 162-150 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 28 mm, 16.49 g, 12 h), Seleukeia on the Tigris, circa 161-150. Diademed head of Demetrios I to right. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ - ΔHMHTPIOY / ΣΩΤΗΡΟΣ Tyche, holding short scepter ending in monogram in her right hand and cornucopiae in her left, seated left on throne supported by tritoness right; to outer left, monogram and palm frond. HGC 9, 797d. SC 1690.1 var. (no monogram at end of scepter). An extremely rare variety. Struck from a slightly worn obverse die and with minor traces of overstriking, otherwise, very fine.
